Services

Inner Voice Counselling and Psychotherapy offers one to one, online and telephone counselling. We also offer a no-obligation 20-minute initial consultation free of charge.

Each session lasts 50 minutes, whether you have one to one, online or telephone counselling. Sessions are typically weekly but can also be fortnightly or as regularly as you prefer. We offer regular review sessions where we discuss how things go for you in therapy and tailor our sessions to meet your needs.

One to one Counselling

Face to face sessions are available in a modern and accessible location 15-minutes’ walk from Salford Quays (Media City UK) in Manchester, UK.

Free parking space is available. There are bus stops a few meters away. The nearer tram stop (Langworthy) is 200 meters away. The nearest train station (Salford Crescent) is 15-minutes’ walk.

What to expect from one to one counselling

The First session

In our first session we will explore together the difficulties you experience and the changes you would like to see in your life. Most of us will have some difficulties at some point in our life. I may ask you to tell me a bit about what brought you to counselling. This will help me understand what type of therapy might be more helpful for you. In the first session, we will discuss your preferences about how we can work together. The first session also offers you the opportunity to find out more about how counselling may be able to help you.

Based on the assessment from our first session, I will offer a range of therapy approaches that I think best suit the difficulties you are going through. I will explain to you the details so you can make an informed choice about how we proceed in therapy. This will help us form a therapy plan.

Some people experience some anxiety before the first session which is understandable. If this relates to you, I would like to reassure you that I am not here to judge, only offer some guidance and help you move forward. I will do everything I can to help you feel comfortable.

Counselling Contract

In our first session, we will also go through the counselling contract. This is an agreement between, myself as the therapist and yourself. It outlines the counselling details so that we are both clear on what to expect from counselling. This ensures the professional nature of our relationship. By signing the contract, we both agree on the way we would like to work together. You can read the contract before our first session if you like or we can discuss it together in our first session.

Subsequent sessions

If you would like us to work together, we will agree on a day/time to have our subsequent sessions. What we discuss in our sessions is strictly confidential. I offer short-term or long-term counselling. During our work together, we will work collaboratively to find answers to the problems that concern you, no matter how big or small these may be. You can see me for as long as you would like to, depending on your needs, goals, and preferences.

Online Counselling

If you choose to have online therapy, I will email you a link that will take you to a ‘meeting’ on the date/time we have agreed for our session. I offer online sessions via zoom as this offers a safe and secure platform for video calls. Zoom is free and easy to download in your computer or phone. During the video call we can see and hear each other, as if we were in the same room. This means that you can have online therapy from the comfort of your home. The content of our sessions will be the same whether we meet face-to-face or online. Research has shown that online therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy.

Telephone Counselling

If you choose to have telephone counselling, I will call you on the date/time we have agreed for our session. The content of our sessions will be the same whether we meet face-to-face or talk on the phone. Telephone counselling can be very effective and shares the same advantages as online counselling, as it allows you to flexibly access support from anywhere you are.
